They say attending a music festival is good for your soul. The event provides an opportunity to escape from your boring routine and recharge with great music, arts, and culture. In 2015, Reggae Rise Up featured only a humble line-up comprising ten reggae bands. The groundbreaking festival's line-up includes reggae rock powerhouse Rebelution, along with Steel Pulse, Collie Buddz, and several others. The show also featured the winner of a battle of the bands held by the festival’s official sponsor. At this notable gathering, the show lit up Raymond James Stadium. One year later, Reggae Rise Up had
its second installment at its home for eight years, Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. The concert grounds can easily accommodate up to 20,000 guests. With the growing popularity of Reggae Rise Up, this became the perfect venue to host the growing event. The second hearing featured a power-packed line-up of Dirty Beads, Tribal Seeds, and Stick Figure.
By its third year, the festival has become one of the year's must-see events. In 2017, Reggae Rise Up grew into a two-day fest featuring only the most in-demand bands in the genre. The two-day fest was led by the iconic Slightly Stoopid and Iration. The show saw the return of Dirty Heads as the headliner.
For the next two years, Reggae Rise Up became one of North America's biggest music festivals. The show has now become a three-day spectacle featuring the biggest names in the music scene. In 2019, Stephen Marley debuted at the festival while the organizers brought back several renowned favorites, such as Stick Figure, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, and Dirty Heads.
When fans thought the festival couldn't be any bigger, Reggae Rise Up expanded to Las Vegas in 2021. Held in the city's downtown district, the show was a phenomenal revenge concert after the pandemic. That same year, the festival also had a three-day fest in Baltimore, Maryland.
Last year, Reggae Rise Up continued to feature the most incredible performers. The 2022 line-up saw the return of Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, and Iration. The shows also featured several up-and-coming bands, iconic groups like Soja and Atmosphere. Moreover, that same year was the first time organizers brought in Grammy Award-winning reggae artist Shaggy.
The recently completed Reggae Rise Up 2023 has brought in an estimated 20,000 fans. The sold-out event welcomes 311, Sublime with Rome, Koffee, and Wiz Khalifa for the first time. Next year’s line-up is a mystery, but surely, the show will pack a punch and have several surprises in store!
